The silver is real: this ring is solid 925 sterling silver. But unlike our earrings and bracelets, it is finished with a nickel-based plating rather than rhodium.

Why this ring reacts to a magnet: nickel is magnetic — sterling silver is not. A slight pull from a strong magnet comes from the surface plating, not the silver beneath it. The silver content is exactly what we state.
